20th September 2013 - Bohs at home. Surely we'd win this one? After last week's disaster against Dundalk and fighting for our lives against 'de Bowez' we'd have to produce something special. What we produced was a dog's dinner. A dog's dinner that my dog wouldn't eat if he was starving to death. I know what I'm talking about because I brought my dog to this one and he found the footballing dish served up by Shels very hard to swallow.
You can see him with me in the picture. He doesn't look happy, does he? He still hasn't recovered.

The last thing to die is hope - Надежда умирает последне
I don't often miss home matches, or away matches for that matter, but as it turned out it I found myself wishing that I had missed this one. It was 13th September 2013 and Shels were playing Dundalk in the last eight of the cup. Maybe this was a chance for Shels to make some kind of mark on a season that had gone from bad to worse to catastrophic? Not a chance. By half time we 0-5 down. By the end there was such a cloud of depression hanging over Tolka park I was really beginning to wonder if I would ever go to another football match there again.
But of course, I will be back again next week. Following Shels you always have a choice: be optimistic in spite of it all or just give up hope altogether.
